Stupid question. I purchased a 3000 and it works great with everything except my Phillips AMP/Tuner. when I learn it becomes unpredictable. On the AMP I hold SAT to turn the receiver on in SAT mode. To turn off I press power. Can't seem to get any combo to learn correctly. Any help appreciated. Is this the discrete issue I read so much about?

I believe it is the infamous Philips toggle bit problem. See these threads [Link: remotecentral.com] and [Link: remotecentral.com]

I know the 3000 worked OK with toggle bits and my Philips TV - so maybe there's hope. Now I'm not sure what you mean by learning the combo - are you trying to do two codes on one button?

thanks for the replies. Combo in my terms refers to combinations of learning not 2 fucn to 1 btn. I am not smart enough yet to try that! I tried learning the pwr IR on the phillips remote to power btn on the 3000 and nothing. I tried learning SAT IR (holding SAT down makes the AMP pwr on in SAT(video) mode) on the video1 key on the 3000 and nothing. Ocassionally I stumble on to something thats works 1 out 10 trys, but never predictable. Also can get the remote to get stuck and continaully send. Have to take batteries out to clear the remote. Losing patience!

As far as the 000 getting stuck, make sure you hold down the butting you are teaching until the 000 beeps at you. (long burst) if you do a short burst you may be getting a "dirty" code.

why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!
