Hello again,
First I have to say, this forum is awesome. Thanks to all who contribute, I am sure Sony sales owe a lot to you guys.
Secondly, after posting last week, I purchased an RM-AV3000T this afternoon and have been playing all evening to get in the same state as my well set up 2100T.
When attempting to recreate the macros, I stumbled on the Discreet codes problem (has been well documented by you guys already, so I don't expect a re-type, lol).
My 2100T had the option for SONY components to perform either "Power ON" or "Power OFF" when recording a macro. A concept that my macros rely quite heavily on (I have all Sony components).
I went to do this on the 3000T tonight, and couldnt find an equivalent. 3 hours later and a quick check to see if I still had the receipt, I could still find nothing in the manuals about this.
I decided that because the 2100T worked perfectly with these commands, I would create a 1 step macro for Power Off and teach this to the 3000T. I then created another 1 step macro on the 2100T for Power On, and taught this to the 3000T also. These I stored in a dedicated component on 3000t (I called it SONY-DSC) using the 16 user defined buttons. I called them, TV-ON, TV-OFF etc. This process was repeated for all my components. Now my new macros on the 3000T access this dedicated component and its discreet signals.
I know that was a mouthful, but I just thought people in the same situation (upgrading from 2100T) may find it a useful alternative to trying to find one of the "One-For-all" / "Radioshack" remotes that you guys suggest.
Incidently, I cannot locate these remotes in any Australian sites (we seem to have digitor? and others that are Pre-Programmed), any suggestions?
Lastly, not that I fully expect an answer, but why did SONY remove this function from the newer model?? Seems a bit silly?
Thanks, Max

Hmm.. Not having migrated from the 2100T, I didn't know that they USED to have discreet codes! That does seem really dumb to remove that feature. I went and bought the RS OFA to do mine, but now I'm a bit torqued that I had to do this. -- Chris

I did the same to my 3000 (discrete codes from the 2100) over a year ago. Works great! The 3000 does have discrete power on for sony products.

why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time! |

Thanks CB1,
If Discreet power on is already in the 3000, how do you utilise it in Macros??
Cheers, Max

You program the Power On Command (see page 43 of the manual) to the component key. Then you use this key in your macro. For others, who do not have a 2100, but have another learning remote, you can teach this command to your learning remote, then teach it back to an unused key on the 3000, and use that in your macro. This way, if you wanted to learn another command on the component key, or put another macro on the component key, you could do it.
