Hello, I just just recently purchased a V555ES receiver. It was a floor model clearance item that came without a remote. Can someone tell me which remote will work with this unit the best? I have been researching online and one company recommends the RM-TP503 and another recommends the RM-TP504. Any recommendations on the best place to buy one? Help

Well, you have a problem here. The remote that comes with the receiver is the RM-TP504. These are highly specialized remotes and, while giving you total and complete control of the receiver, will not give a whole lot of options with your other components. They are about $100 on ebay. Normally, I would say get a good universal remote and learn from the original, but of course you don’t have the original, so there is the problem. If you want to spend the money, you can buy a TP-504 and get a universal remote to teach to and control your other components, or get a good OFA/RS universal remote, which will give you most of what you need to control the receiver, and go to a local store that carries Sony receivers and copy the few commands you don’t already have. If you need more commands, you can go into discrete codes, (see this link [Link: remotecentral.com]) and even jp1, which you can read about here [Link: remotecentral.com]. If you want to look at the manual for the TP504, go here [Link: 129.33.22.12]If you need the manual for the receiver, go here [Link: 129.33.22.12]

Thanks for your help. I had actually just ordered a manual online as well. I will probably end up buying the TP504. The receiver itself was a bargain at $300 I found in a clearance sale - the additional $100 for a remote should still be a good investment on this great receiver. So far I am very pleased with the quality.| I hope I find one on Ebay - any other suggestions or sellars - let me know. On 09/10/03 11:33, Villarrer said... Both pdf url's work for me, so I don't know why you can get one and not the other. Try typing the url into your browser and see if that works better. You shouldn't have any problem getting one on ebay. Just enter tp504 in the search, and a seller names james555 will come up. I researched this remote for another thread and accidentally clicked on the buy now button, so I thought I would have a problem, but I emailed james555 and told him what happened and he cancelled the order right away, so I guess he is OK.

Tat remote is a good remote, except that you cant see the screen, it eats batteries, only volume hard buttons Other than that it is ok. I would still take a 3000 over it. \CB1

why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time! |

Hey thanks a bunch. I appreciate all the tips. I was able to finally get the manual printed for both the remote and the receiver. I have ordered the remote from the Ebay site. I am still a novice to most electronic issues so this was the easiest way out for me $100 for a $388 retail remote was not a bad deal. Do you own a V555ES? If so, are you happy with it? Thus far I have been pleasantly surprised, especially for the bargain I got.

I'm an installer and have worked with several 555's, The 333's 444's and 555's had a few glitches. Mainley the 444. Volume knob move up by itself, passes audio but no video. Very few had this problem.

The sony accessories site lists two different remotes for the V555ES - RM-US104, and the RM-TP504. What purpose does the RM-US104 serve? It is considerably cheaper in price.

The manual shows the RMUS104 is for area code code UC only. The manual for the RMUS104 says it is a simple substitute for the RMTP504. Go here for the manual on the 104 [Link: 129.33.22.12]This message was edited by Ron Aronson on 09/12/03 15:49.
