I reviewed all the historical messages before posting and didn't see the answer. If previously covered, please point me to it.

I have a Sony STR-DA30ES receiver that came with a RM-lj301 remote. There's a plastic tip on the inside of the flip key pad that activates buttons when the flip key pad is closed. It broke. Remote still works if I manually press the button.

Anyway, I bought a RM-LJ304 to replace it. I can't get the remote to learn the sound fields. Test tone button doesn't work either.

Can someone send some ideas about how to use the "learn" feature on the '304' to learn from the '301'?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm the one who mailed your remote to you. It was shipped to me by mistake. So I was asked to mail it to you to save time. Well, not knowing much about that remote, sorry I can't help you.

Now that I see your name, you're right. Funny, I live 45 minutes away from the guy that shipped it to you. It gets around. I could have drove and picked it up.

I don't think there's a problem with the remote. Just need to figure how to "learn".

Thx!

Soundfields are very difficult to learn -- if you search for that (pick at least a year history) you may find some help.

Are the remotes exactly alike? If so, take the doors off and exchange them.

I found 1 relevant record that may get me going. I also sent off a note to Sony's technical support. Not sure if that will bear fruit but I can try.

The doors do match. I can use that if I can't get the new one to work. Thing is, I have a 300 CD changer and the 301 only supports 200 CDs. 304 supports 400.

Thanks again for the help. If you see anything let me know.
