This sounds too odd to be true. The remote for a Sat-W60 UltimateTV receiver was dropped and ceased to work. When the remote was brought to the local retailer for repair/replacement, the owner of the remote was told that the remote had some sort of a code in it that made it work only with a particular receiver and that it might be necessary to bring in the whole receiver in order to activate a new remote. This seems very strange to me. Has anybody else heard this kind of a story regarding Sony DTV receivers?

The sony utv, only has one code, accept for the transport keys, and few other commands, it uses the same DSS code sony has used for years. The sony T60, its Dtivo, has 3 codes. The receiver could be set to code 2, and the remote to code 3, and they wouldn't talk to one another.
