Gentlepersons, Purchased an AV3000 a few weeks ago, and for the most part, we are genuinely pleased with its overall perfomance and efficiency. But please, please tell Sony to do something about that godawful manual!!! Needless to say, my electronically challenged better half is even more elated than I, staring at only one electronic device on our otherwise remote cluttered coffee table. So, for the most part, so far, so good.
However, I have run into one slight glitch that I hope someone will be able to help me with. Our listening environment lends itself to a myriad of acoustic nuances and our A/V Reciever (Yamaha RXV-992, circa 1993) does an admirable job with all kinds of "DSP" modes including pro-logic, etc. However, after programming the "S. effects" label to toggle between on and off, I am unable to utilize the "genre" key in any manner for the actual DSP modes. I am thinking that the only other way I will be able to use this feature is through the learning mode and customizing another hard key. It makes sense, but it would be great to keep it all under the "amp" key. If anyone has run into this quandary, I would certainly appreciate your thoughts/comments.

You can learn to the touchscreen buttons too, or are they all used up.

The only one that's not used is Video 3. Otherwise, its a goner! I guess what I'm trying to figure out is whether or not there's some magical code to unlock the possiblities of the "genre" label key. The bottom left label key is "S. Effects" then ****, then "FM Plus" (to increase the FM frequency, than "Amp Off", which is the only way I can turn the thing off. So there you have it.
