Just picked up a VL1000. I have a pioneer VSX-D557 receiver and on its remote, there are separate buttons for center, surround, sub. When pressing these buttons, the remote sends a quick pulse to the receiver - which I can tell by the quick flash of light on the remote.
Unfortunately, this pulse is much too short for the VL1000 to learn. Is there ANY thing I can do? I would assume this would be a problem with ANY learning remote.
Thanks for any help.

Never mind. I discovered that pressing the center or sub or surround button causes the level +/- buttons to change their function. The level +/- buttons can be programmed without a problem. I'm good to go.
