I have been considering buying a Sony RM-AV3000 in the US over the net and shipping it to the UK but a guy from Sony UK who was pretty unsure said that the IR frequencies in America may be different to those used in the UK so it might not recognise my existing equipment.
I have a friend who is an electronics engineer and he said that lots of manufacturers use slightly different IR frequencies so for the RM-AV3000 to be truly universal it would need a big range anyway so this may not be a problem.
Could anyone please confirm wether there may be a problem if I buy a US model and use it on my British kit or not?
Thanks in advance.

The answer is yes, except it does not have the teletext button which can be learned. I bought one and use in Oz. Sony use a modulation frequesncy of 38Khz, and there commands are the same in each country.
