While programming my AV3000, I ran into a problem with my Zenith VCR. In order to start recording without programming the VCR, I need to press and hold the VCR's record button. So far, I haven't found a way to simulate this on the AV3000. No matter how long I press the touch screen's record button, the VCR won't start recording. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The RMAV3000 uses a double key record as a safety measure. You have to punch "record" and then "play" while holding down the record button. You can learn a single record key function by learning from your VCR's remote onto the "record" button.

I believe I tried what you are suggesting. The problem is that on the VCR remote I need to press and hold the record button for 3 seconds or more for it to start recording. I was able to learn the VCR's record button on the AV3000's record button, but unfortunately it wouldn't start the recording on the VCR.

After speaking with Sony technical support, they unfortunately don't believe that there is any way for the AV3000 to learn to press and hold a button. Hopefully, I can find another VCR that doesn't need this press and hold method of recording.

Zenith has been making vcrs for many
years. Just because your remote now
needs to be pressed, to record. That
doesn't mean it won't react to a single record button, or a combination of
play & record, or even a double tap of
the record button. Before buying a new
vcr, get a cheap ofa remote. Try the
codes, try the different record methods
I stated before, if it works teach it
to the 3000.

Not a bad idea. I'll try that. Thanks.
