I am finding it impossible to delete a key. Using the procedure on page 25 of a twice flashing key only results in the five beep ng code. Does anyone have any suggestions or explanations?

Thanks

I've only had my RM-AV3000 for a few days, so am far from an authority on its operation. All I can say is keep trying the procedure ... Make sure you're in "Learn" mode, then do the "Delete" procedure until it goes through. I've just been experimenting with my remote, and sometimes it seems to take several tries to get an operation to "stick".

I did run into a case, however, where deleting a key seemed to work (no NG code or multiple beeps), but every time I'd turn the remote off then back on, the key was still enabled. (This was the "Record" key for my Dishplayer satellite receiver -- seems to be undeletable from the 3000's LCD keys). For that device, I've gone with the "brute force method" -- just started with a relatively blank display (only a few keys like power and numbers enabled), and "learned" my Displayer remote key by key. This was a bit tedious, but at least I didn't end up with keys I didn't want.

Maybe some of the more experienced 3000 users can comment on a surefire method to delete stubborn keys. I get the feeling there's some detail of the process I'm just not getting from the User's Guide.

Good luck!
Steve

I have a couple of keys that refuse to hide as well. One is record and the other is right arrow, both on the STB page. Tried dozens of times.

I have also done "The Brute Force Method" by using another component without any learned keys or preset keys to have the function that won't delete, but I would like to know why the keys won't delete.

After using the "Brute Force Method" to get rid of the play and record buttons on the STB screen, I discovered that both of those buttons work in tandem. You can delete them both by pressing the "DEL", "REC", and "Play" buttons at the same time. Also if your remote cannot learn a signal, cover the infrared sensors completly before initiating the learn command. Works every time. Have a good day.

Remember, REC + PLAY is a double-button separate from REC and PLAY by themselves. If something is stored on REC + PLAY, both will show.

Now how do we delete a pre-programmed key on the LCD? I've got a key on the STB that's pretty worthless, and added a key but want to change the name of it to "speed Menu". Also trying to figure out how to change the word on a key that was pre-programmed.

Granted, I've only had it 3 hours, and using the manual, I got it programmed for my 5 basic devices and some on/off macros, and to automatically backlight it when I touch the screen. But the manual is confusing at best.

Thanks!

Same way you remove a learned signal. Solid = learned, flashing every time = preprogrammed, flashing every other time = hide.
