I purchased one of these remotes about three months ago and returned it after I tried it in many different ways. I was impressed with evrEything that it does but was disappointed that the lower buttons are not backlit. Since all this is done in the dark it makes no sense to have the LCD display lit and all the other buttons hidden in the dark. I loved the remote, but there is nothing more disturbing then trying to find a button by feel in the dark. Light up the buttons and I will buy that model and keep it. Thanks to Tweeters, they gave me no hassle for returning this product within 30 days. (UNLIKE CIRCUIT CITY WHO WOULD CHARGE YOU A 15% RESTOCKING FEE, YECHHHHH!!!!)

Hmm, I know everyone has their own preference, however since there's so few physical buttons I found it extremely easy to memorize them. The only ones you actually need to remember is which component select button is which. Having them light up would be cool though - or even if they went the easy way as in the Sony DVP-S500D DVD player's where they glow in the dark.

What is worse, they have reversed (left to right) the position of the chanel change and volume control buttons from every other Sony remote I have, some going back 12 years, dumb, very dumb. And they could have give them different shapes to give you a clue in the dark since they are not backlit, bumb, very dumb. Also it does only basic functions and does not work well with older Sony units since the codes changed about 8 years ago. (They had the memory but did not care about older component users).
