My AV2000's backlight comes on spontaneously and ends up draining the batteries unless I happen to be there to catch it. Note that only the light comes on, the Commander remains off. The only way to turn it off is to remove a battery. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks.

Sounds like something inside is failing. I've never heard of one doing that.
