RM-AV2100 Channel UP/DOWN button stops working

I have had the RM-AV2100 Remote for almost 2 months now. Today, the Channel UP/DOWN buttons
stopped working again for the 4th or 5th time. Every other function on the remote seems to work.
The TV section, the DVD and VHS and Cable box section, but none of the Channel UP/DOWN buttons
will work.

The first time this happened, I called Sony Cust. Support. They insisted that I hit a key sequence or in
some way programmed the remote and it was my fault these buttons stopped working. They
instructed me to take out the batteries for 48 hours. I did, and when I put them back in, the remote
was fine again.

I don't use this remote too often. Mostly we just watch regular cable and we use the cable box's
remote, but when we do watch a DVD or VHS tape and I want to have fun and use the Sony remote, I
have to end up resetting the remote each time because I can never surf up/down on the channels
after I have used it.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Could I have a mad remote? Any help or suggestions would be
greatly appreciated. Oh, I am using all Sony components (except the cable box) and the remote
works 100% good after its reset, i.e I don't have to program it at all.

Thanks, Aaron

Sony should ***REALLY*** put this in the manual.

To get your channel +/- keys to work, hit the change button on upper left of remote. If it's on change "2" thats where the problem is. Putting it back to change "1" fixes it. Allegedly this "feature" is just supposed to disable infrequently used keys, how channel +/- fits in is as confusing to me as it is to you.
