Greetings,
I have a Sony RM-AV2000 and I am unable
to clear the programming from the 'System
Control' button #1. The manual says to hold
down the 'COMMANDER OFF' button and simultaneously
press 'System Control' #1. When I do this,
'NG' flashes in the display. I've tried
leaving the batteries out of the unit
overnight, but to no avail. Has anyone
seen anything like this?

According to the instruction manual, and the information Daniel provides on the "Programming" page (for the 2100):
"To clear a macro from a System Control button: While holding [COMMANDER OFF], press the System Control button you want to clear. Then, while holding [RESET], again press the System Control button you want to reset. All component names should flash."

If you continue to have problems, you may need to reset the remote back to factory defaults. Instructions for that is found at the bottom of [Link: remotecentral.com]
