I have a Proscan TV and Mitsubishi VCR. On the VL 900, can I program the component button for the TV so that when I hit the TV button, it powers on the TV AND selects the correct video source (vid-1) on the TV for the VCR?

If you program the button as a macro, yes. But only if you already have codes that'll correctly perform those two functions.
