I am looking at possibly buying a Sony remote, but I have several questions for the "experts". Is a new model (2200?) on the way? The only change that I would hope for is the backlight timer staying on. Where can I purchase the 2100 for the lowest price, shipped, to CA? Finally, does the remote have built-in codes for a new Toshiba 24" flat screen TV, RCA DRD420RE Sat. reciever, and a Sony S360 DVD player? Thanks for your time and help!!!!!

Dear Jordan,
I am not aware of any new model on the way, although Sony has always been a specialist in updating their equipment. I remember the remote one of my earlier Trinitron televisions having the ability to change the channel "down" only, yet there was a blank spot on the remote control for an "up" key. They're the pros at baiting you with "just around the corner technology."
As for the lowest price, I got my AV-2100 new, from ecost.com for $95. There are other sources for similar prices, and some have even mentioned the Sony Store for a discounted price.
I don't know if they would be able to keep the backlight on just for the sake of battery consumption.
I am not certain if there are codes for some of the newest televisions, and the like, but since the remote can learn any IR signal, you're able to do it one position at a time if the codes are not readily available.
Good luck.
