Just purchased a RM-AV 2100 (without a manual) and can't get it to work with my Sony audio video control center (STR-DB830). Tips on where is the best to programme it or is something in there already that will control it that I don't know about.

Also if anyone knows where you can download a manual.

thx,

mike

What exactly isn't working? The remote, by default, should control most items.

FYI

You can download the orginal English manual for RM-AV2100 (PDF file) online from Sony Canada!

Here is the URL:

I'm running an 830 with my 2100 remote. In order to get things the way I wanted, I had to learn all of the DSP functions (the default settings for the DSPs didn't work) and change a few of the AMP and TUNER functions. I don't use much in the macro department but my setup has worked around the on/off code problems.

Bottom line is that I'm very satisfied with the 2100.

All, many thanks for the help,

The only thing I can get it to work on the 830 (I guess with the default settings) is the everything off button /system cont.1/ where everything Sony in the house gets turned off. I would of thought that in the DSP or AMP mode, the volume or power would work. I guess it is intended that you should learn the keys under these two devises as Han suggested.

Also seeing that you are an experts on the subject two more questions. I bought the 2100 in the states, but as I live in Europe, all the components including TV are European. Does this make any difference?

And finally, I play all my CDs through the DVD. What I cant find on either menu is a track skip button. I can only scan and not skip tracks up or down. How did you solve this?

1) The DSP device is only for preamps, not receivers (eveything has to be learned for receivers). However, the amp device should work with the 001 code.

2) There is a European version, but the only real difference is the addition of specific labels such as "teletext".

3) Channel up/down. :-)
