I've got a Sony DA777ES receiver, with the Sony two-way remote. I've placed my receiver behind my listening position, in a built in cabinet. I'm using the Radio Shack pyramids to relay IR commands from the remote to the receiver (and other components in the rack), and, though somewhat ugly, this works just fine.

However, I can't get the returned IR broadcast from the receiver back to the Sony remote, without turning and facing the component rack. I've tried to use a second set of the Radio Shack pyramids to relay back the receiver's IR, but this doesn't seem to work.

Any suggestions?

TIA

If I remember correctly (and I may not be), Sony's return IR format/frequency isn't compatible with many IR repeater systems (I don't know of one that has been confirmed working).

Hello, Daniel...

Thanks for the quick reply.

I suspected this, but wanted to check with you folks for confirmation.

Do you think that the return IR signal is strong enough to be reflected from a small mirror towards the front wall of the room, which would then reflect back towards the remote? (awfully Rube Goldberg-like, but I'll try just about anything right now!).

Thanks...

Can't say... depends on how powerful the receiver is, how sensitive the remote's receiver is, plus exactly what angles you're talking about.
