All you guys who complain about Sony's vision touch and want an IR remote, well you can get them to work with some mods.
Buy yourselves the service manuals for the (it may be only one needed)look at the circuit for the front panel, there is a place to install a ir detector on this board. I have done the reverse with a STR-ga8es this now has the GUI and can use the RM_AV2000 to control the system.
Becareful though as this may invalidate your warranties.

Even opening the case would probably invalidate the warranty. This is interesting though in that it shows that there's not much difference electrically between the GA8ES & GA9ES. How is the GUI activated on the 8ES though? You'd figure if the capability was there they'd at least do something like show the volume level...

This how it is done the GA9ES has 3 extra board 1 being a program card the other 2 are the S-video card with extra parts mounted the same is with the video card. I purchased these at a total cost of $100, revoved the old card's and installed the new ones. The ant input was directly soldered to the board. Then removed the jumper, quite an easy job.
I hear you ask the warranty well if some thing goes faulty open the case swap boards over then take it to get repaired. Nobody will ever Know.

Does anybody know of it's possible to swap parts to add S-Video capability to the STR-DE915 like Sircs made mods to his GA8ES?

I love my 915, but I'd really like to have S-Video attached rather than the mismash of cables I have now. From what I understand, the 1015 has little difference from the 915 ,save for the Vision Touch and the S-Video inputs.
