Hi Scott.

Your message almost sounds frantic! But do not worry as there is a simple solution, and I use it with my 2100:

You require the X-10 IR543 to start (About US$20-25). This plugs into the wall and will receive the IR from your 2100 and convert it to X-10 line signals that it will send on the electrical wiring throughout your home (the principal behind X-10).

Next you will need X-10 modules such as plug-in lamp or appliance modules, or wire-in wall switches. for the fan (ceiling fan) you will require an "inductive" wall switch to control its' motor.

A great way to start with X-10 is to purchase the ActiveHome kit (US$50). Visit www.x10.com. They often have sales and give aways so visit often. Note however that their quality is ok, but not high. Also, the IBM Home Director. This is the same kit with the IBM name stamped on it.

For high quality items and items not available at x10.com, visit such places as www.homeautomationnet.com , smarthome.com, smarthomeUSA.com, etc.

The remote that comes with the active home kit will allow you to learn the ir signals for X-10 to the sony 2100.

to learn more check out the forum on this website entitled "X-10 Chat".

Have fun!

I just wrote a detailed response and the post failed. Here goes again!!!

X-10 remotes 19a and 24a support the x10 button in either RF mode (013) or IR mode (014). I am not sure if your 47a does.

To change modes:
1.Hold Setup until light stays lit.
2.Press and release X10
3.Enter 014.
4.LED goes off and the unit should transmit IR rather than RF when in X10 mode.

As for the IR543, X10.com does NOT sell it. You will have to get it from one of the sites previously mentionned or X10.CA (best place to get it in Canada).

The lamp modules can often be found on sale so shop around. I bought some Magnavox modules from smarthome.com for $3.49 each. Can't beat that!!!

The IR543 is the transciever. Any IR remote with X-10 codes built-in will work. For modules you'll want to go to the X-10 forum.

ok i think i got it now what will be the module i will need to dim the lights and operate the fan what do u guys think about the screw in sockets

I do not personally like the screw in sockets as they extend the bulb a couple of inches.

If I wanted to control both the lights and the fan I would install an X-10 wall switch for the lights and an "in-box" module inside the junction box where the fan is installed.

If you don't want to do that then get the screw in sockets and shorter bulbs. note that there are 2 screw in modules available. The old one extends 3 inches, the new one about 1.5.

I would now suggest that we carry on any further X-10 related discussions in the "X-10 Chat" forum, unless specific to the sony 2100.

I have a av2100 and TM751 LM465 UR47A([Link: x10.com])

I can teach the lights on/off to the sony from the x10 remote but the x10 reciver dose not recive them (the remote is sending them).

I've tried the 013 and 014 codes to no avail

Is there away to get it to work with the tm751 reciver or am I stuck buying a IR543?

The 751 is an RF Transceiver. The sony remote is IR only, so you MUST use the IR543 controller.

The IR 543 receives the IR signal from your Sony remote and sends an X10 command through the powerlines to whatever module you are trying to control.

RF= Radio Frequency
IR=InfraRed
