I originally posted this on March 1, 2001 in the X-10 Forum, but no answers. Also, X-10 has not responded to the same question that I emailed them. Help!?!:
I just setup my IR543 to receive IR X-10 control commands from my Sony 2100. I have to "learn" the signals from the 6 in 1 to the 2100.
On my X-10 6 in 1 remote, numbers 1 to 10 (0) work fine, but I require the key assignments for 11 to 16.
My understanding was that they were represented by the Rew, FF, Play, etc keys.
When I push them the LED blinks and the IR543 "sees" the signal, but nothing happens.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong...
-Chris
Follow Up:
Remember that my 6-in-1 is in IR mode (014) and not in RF mode (the default, 013).
So if you press 1,2, then ON for the number 12, what actually happens is that modules 1 and 2 go on. The numbers are grouped in the IR543 and then the command ON, Dim, etc. is applied to all of them at once.
I need to do this in order to "teach" my Sony 2100 the X-10 IR signals.

Well, if the X-10 remote is really "grouping" the signals, you may have a difficult time learning them. You need to learn "1-16", "on", "off", "dim", "brighten" etc. all as separate signals.

No, no. The remote is not grouping them, but rather the IR543 is. This feature is also part of the X-10 Maxi Controller.
What I need to find is the unique key, or sequence of keys that must be pressed, in order for the X-10 remote to send One IR signal to the IR543 that represents 11, 12, 13,...16.
X-10 has still not responded to my original message sent 3 weeks ago!!!
Someone out there must know...

AFAIK the signals *should* be under transport controls... that's pretty much standard. They are unique signals and aren't made up of a combination of numbers (though who knows what they make you do to get to them on that remote).

Hello, I just bought X-10 saw your mail.
Couldn't you simply program another grouping such as "B" in stead of "A". AND this way use 1 - 6 on A freq and then 1 - 6 on B freq.
Then you might not need to use the 7 - 16 at all and still have 16 devices programed into your new remote.
????????

Sorry but No again. You must set the IR543 to a particular house code such as "A". So if you wanted to do B as well you'd have to buy a second IR543 for B.
Daniel, that is what I had originally understood as well: that the transport controls of stop, play, fwd, rew, rec and pause represented 11 to 16. But when you press them, Nothing. the LED does not even blink. I tried it on both my 6 in 1 and 8 in 1. Nothing.
And of course X-10 has still not answered me!!! The day I get the answer I will definitely post it here!
