I have a tourch light. How could I control the light with the remote? I do believe Radioshcack sells something that gives you this control but do not know what it is? Can anyone please help? Thanks!!

You could go X-10 (you'll need X-10 modules, the IR543, plus something to learn the codes from).

You can preset levels and add the code to a macro. You can also ramp up and down level off.

I found this site while trying to find a way to turn the fire on in my fireplace's gas logs. They have remote controls for appliances as well. If you plug their gadget into a socket and then plug your appliance (up to 1000w) into the gadget, then the remote can control power to the appliance. If the remote is IR, then the 2100 should be able to learn it. It's expensive, $58 per gadget. I have two torch lamps in my tv room. To outfit those two and my fireplace, I'll need to spend about $200. But it'll be cool.
