I have a Yamaha receiver (496). I tried to configure a 'DVD Macro' which (a)turns on the amp, (b)chooses the DVD, and (c)hits 'play'. I seem to have a serious problem with step (b) - when the remote executes that macro step, my receiver scrolls through all the DVD input options possible (Auto, DTS, Analog...) instead of simply choosing the default DVD input (Auto). Note that in order to simulate this manualy I'd have to hit the 'Choose DVD button' 4 times, althogh when I configured the macro I only pressed it once!

A few more notes:
1. While the macro is executing step (b), the amp light stays on for more than a second (i.e. longer than it should). Obviously the remote is busy executing this step - this doesn't seem like a problem at the receiver end.
2. If I duplicate step (b) (i.e. 'choose DVD' twice), the remote simply scrolls through all the DVD inputs 8 times, and as expected, takes twice as long to execute.
3. Changing the delay didn't solve this issue.
4. Nor recofiguring (re-teaching) the remote.
5. Again, manual operation works perfectly. It only misbehaves when put in a macro.

Has anyone seen this before or can shed some light as to what's going on? Thanx!

I have the Yamaha 596. I have not had any problems with my DVD macro (similar to yours, but I hit "play" manually when I'm ready to watch the movie). Why don't you try reconfiguring your macro? Maybe something like:

1. Amp- power on
2. DVD-power on
3. Amp-DVD audio
4. DVD-play

It's just a guess, but it might work.

Thanks, but actually the solution is simpler, and was repeated in this forum over and over again regarding all of the Sony remotes:
When teaching, you need to press AND HOLD the button until the light goes back again on the VL900. The reason is the VL's large transmit buffer - if the learned signal is too short, it is multiplied until the buffer is full - normally resulting in transmitting the same function 3 times.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback.
