I received my 2100 yesterday, and have been very happy with its performance and flexibility. Couldn't beat the price of $95 either. Yep that backlight situation is the only thing I could see as being an ongoing inconvenience.
One question I have: Does the memory capacity allow for almost FULL utilization of all the keys and buttons?
An earlier Radio Shack remote I owned had 192 available positions, but only memory for 112 stored positions and macros. That unit had 7 timers in it, a nice feature that I am surprised is not incorporated into the 2100.

Well, I haven't heard any confirmed reports of people running out of memory on the AV2100... on the AV2000, yes, but not the 2100.
