Greetings,
I've got one non-Sony component, and that is my cable box from General Instruments. It is the only device that the RM-PP401 can't control. In the manual, they list only Panasonic, Pioneer, RCA, Sony and Zenith in the category for DBS Tuner, Satellite tuner or cable box.
Is there any chance this thing can control the Cable Box? If not, it would see the VL-900 is the way to go. If anyone is familiar with operation of the PP-401 vs the VL900, are there any major differences in operation? Ease of use is critical for certain family members...
I guess one other option is to call the cable company and see if they have any listed boxes.
Thanks,
John

Use as a good excuse to buy the VL-900. It's really a great remote!

I bought the 900!
It seems like it'll finally resolve all my needs. I don't really mind if I have to resort to an original resort twice a year. I just want the primary functions, and easy changing between functions on the One True Remote that lives on the coffee table.
My selling point to family members ? That the old remote up/down channel buttons had to be really pressed hard to get it to move ( about a decade old). The new remote is much better in that regard!
