I have a Sony VDP-S530D DVD player and the remote broke prior to my buying my RM-AV2000 remote. When I use the RM-AV2000 to fast forward a DVD, it goes extremely slow. Since the original remote is broke, I can't use it to program the RM-AV2000. Any suggestions?

Hmm, I believe it has jog rather than fast-forward commands associated on those buttons. You'll have to find some way to learn the correct signals...

Todd: Try holding down the fastforward button with constant pressure, this works with other sony components with Jog dials....

Hmm, not sure that'll work here. Sony devices have three sets of codes:
1) jog forward/backward 2) shuttle forward/backward 3) direct fast forward/rewind
The RM-AV2000 should have come preprogrammed with #3, but instead came with #1.

Ken's correct. I learned fast forward and backward using the jog dial, always maintaining constant pressure. You may need to try it several times to get the AV2000 to take the command.

If your DVD only has a jog/shuttle then yes, as Ken and Gary says should work, but you'll be learning the Shuttle commands rather than direct fast-foward & rewind functions.

GENERAL POINT - if you lost your remote and need a quick way to program your learning universal, try taking your Universal Remote to a large electronics store and just program the button right there in the store using the one they have as a demo.
