Hi guys,
This may seem very obvious to the more experienced remote control goers, but here's a tip that may prove useful for the less experienced programmers.
Quite often I found myself going to the touch screen to perform repetitive type functions while I remain with one component. For example, changing tracks while in CD mode, or changing chapters while in DVD mode, or the obvious changing channels while in CBL/SAT mode.
The thing to remember at this point is that you can teach IR signals into your channel buttons. While you're saying to yourself "yeah I knew that" what becomes even more interesting is that you can program DIFFERENT IR signals to the channel buttons. Every time you change components, the channel buttons perform a new taught function.
Simply look in your manual under "Using Non-Preset Remote Control Operations" and follow step 3 titled "To teach on the CHANNEL +/-, VOLUME +/- or MUTING buttons. (I'm Canadian so the US manual page numbers may be different)
Teach a signal into the channel button that you most often use under each of your components. My channel buttons now changes channels under CBL, changes tracks under CD, changes chapters under DVD, and changes inputs under TV.
Just thought this info might be useful and less obvious to some.
Good luck!!

Well, except for the TV input thing, those are actually the default functions for channel buttons. :-)

Hey Daniel,
Did not know that. Well unfortunately the channel buttons on my remote were "dead" when I first started using it. There were no signals at all on the channel buttons no matter what component I was using. When I pressed the buttons, they did nothing with no audible sound. That's when I discovered I could program different signals into the buttons for each component. I guess life's a lot easier for those who had this pre-programmed. I don't even think there is a mention of this multi-function purpose in the manual.
Oh well, nice chatting...

Neil -- sounds like you had the remote in "Change 2" mode (top left LCD button). For some oddball reason, that disables the channel buttons unless they have a learned code.

The Change 2 mode screws up all of my macros. If someone accidentally hits this button at any time, my wife can't get things to work any more until it is reset to Change 1. Worse than useless.
