I had a problem with programming my General Instruments digital cable box with the 900, and read that the control button may be set for SAT instead of CBL, but couldn't find any info on how to change the button. I called SONY and finally got someone who knew what they were doing.

To change the button:

1> Hit the set button
2> Hit the CBL/SAT button
3> Hold the Play button(the small right triangle)
4> Press the #9 at the same time

This worked for me, and I was able to program my cable box with the first code after that

It's also on page 32-33 of the manual.

Though, I had to find that info on this forum, earlier.

HI:

My name is Luis Navedo, and I would like to know if the Sony RM-AV2100 can control my old President(made by Uniden) C-Band Satellite Reciever, and how can I do this. I'll appreciate if someone can answer this.

Thanks...

General Instrument Cable Box problems are all solved in the Jim Love message on this form. Pay special attention to proper pressing of the two buttons, they seem to be very sensitive.

Interesting. Maybe that is why I couldn't get the 900 to control my GI analog cable box. Is it set to Satellite by default?

Anyway, I got around it by learning the cable channel changes. Perhaps I should try to reset it as suggested?

Yup, it's set to satellite by default.
