If CKWS (Corus) decides to upgrade their two analogue stations in Eastern Ontario to ATSC 3.0 digital, here are their newly assigned channels.

Rob50312 has corrected me.

Since WIVB's hardware license was sold and will be using WNLO's signal to broadcast, they must use WNLO's current tower and parameters.  Since Nexstar hasn't publicly stated what tower they will use, this tells me that would prefer to use their tower in Colden, but must seek FCC approval to do this.

Also, they must vacate the RF39 frequency no later than 6 months after they receive their ransom auction money.

                                                                                      Sorry for the misinfo.

When is a station considered to have received their auction payment?

Was speaking to an old WKBW engineer about this and he seems to feel that they will use the transmitter on the Island. If this information changes I'll let everyone know..

LPTV stations and TV translators that are displaced by the incentive auction should study last week’s Public Notice carefully, as it sets out various procedures for filing, and even mentions that the FCC will itself make available its “Channel Finder” software that was used to repack full-power stations in the incentive auction to help find new channels for displaced LPTV and translators. Displaced LPTV/TV translator stations can change sites to find an open channel – up to 48 kilometers for stations already operating digitally, but only 16.1 kilometers for stations still in analog.

The only WNY station this applies to is WNLB-LD Rochester .

Here are the new channel allotments for Toronto and vicinity.
The three state run media stations don't have to change.   CFT0 MOVES TO RF-8.
CIII - Toronto blocks WBXZ-LP signal with move to RF 17.

Hey Obico.... here in Welland, I receive Global/CIII-DT/Shaw on UHF 41, will that stay or be moved? OH, saw in a later post they're moving to RF17 [will ERB drop?] Will I lose Global here in Welland? Can't remember, who the hell else is using RF17? Not in Daniel's chart.

WBXZ-LP will continue to use  with ERP at 15 kW, meaning most of GTA viewers won't receive this signal due to Global's Toronto transmitter.
[Link: fccdata.org]

WBXZ-LP could become a full power class A station by moving to an available VHF allotment after the transition period ends in three years, but that would take money.

Global's Toronto transmitter on RF  will have a reduced ERP only because
"lower frequencies propagate better than higher frequencies, the power is adjusted down as the frequency goes down".  The contour range of most stations should not change when they change frequencies.  However, CIII-41 and WBXZ-LP contours lines do seem to conflict greatly in Western New York. Stay tuned.

I'm assuming the US and Canada channel's don't care if their RF signals conflict with each other.....This seems like it's going to become a huge mess in the future which so many channel changes coming.....I'm just hoping I can get more channels instead of less channels when it's all said and done but it doesn't look hopeful.

Noticed just this morning that 39 (4-1) has a subchannel of 4-4 now Laff TV. Does this mean that 38 (7-2) Laff TV is going to be changed to something else? Right now both are Laff TV. Also is there going to be more subchannels coming to WIVB (4-2 and/or 4-3)? Hoping for something good!
