I have a terk antenna tv-5. I am currently getting 2,4,7, Fox, WNED, CW etc. I am very happy with this antenna but this is the only antenna that I ever used/purchased. I am curious to know if there is a different antenna on the market that can be used indoor whereby I may be able to pick up more channels. Obviously, I would like to pick up as many as possible.

So what from Buffalo aren't you getting?

You will not get Toronto from Buffalo with only an indoor.

So I don't think that there's any other channels, excluding WNYO, that you don't get. And WNYO will be better for you once they actually increase their power.

Actually, I would prefer they go to the new assignments
now. After all, cable providers don't use remapping to
keep local channels on their traditional sequence. I just
find the whole thing a mess.

I agree they all should use their actual assigned channel in their displayed channel. When US analogs are turned off of what use will it be to display your old channel number. Also the old analog channels may get a new digital assigned.Channel 7 for WNGS-dt ,channel 23 for WPXJ-dt.It is silly to display the analog freq. on your digital assignment.Sure you have NEWS 4 for at 11 on WIVB but at some point it will not be channel 4 anymore.

Maybe not, but they'll want to keep linked with their history.

And what channel do you think they'll be on cable?

Hmmm... "We are 33 on your side" "39 today's news, 39 tomorrow's weather"... they just don't have the same ring. :-)

Yes CW is now is HD at 23-1, no more sub carrier channels on 23.

The weird thing is that Cbs on Chan 4-1 (39) still carries CW at 4-3. plus the radar at 4-2.

Hmm, I tried to tune it in earlier today and there was nothing... until I noticed it was on 23-2. My HDTV receiver caches old PSIP information until I do an official rescan, so based on the old data they're broadcasting it on 23-2. It's 1080i but the quality doesn't seem any different than the 480i version on WIVB (and I base that on the CW23 channel bug).

Apparently both WNLO-HD and WIVB-HD are going exclusively CW and CBS. Nice thing is that more bandwidth will be allocated to their HD programming, but the downside is that reception of WIVB-HD 4.n is spotty for me at best. Over the summer I was receiving WROC-HD from Rochester more reliably than WIVB-HD from Buffalo.

Be in touch with WIVB by visiting their website; www.wivb.com -- Scroll over "programming", follow the HDTV link, and send an email with your feedback. They seem genuinely interested to know what their audience is experiencing reception wise...

2 Updates for this Thread,

Probably want to remove WUTV-EN since it hasn't been in the stream for a while. CW SD on 39-3 is also gone...

One more thing. Big thread over at DHC on this, but WNED-DT has switched from 1080i to 720p. Supposivly people are getting better reception because of this.

alebowgm, i don't think people are getting better reception because of 720p, but more just better PQ because of less compression/bandwidth.

if your updating the page, WNYO hasn't been transmitting a signal for months now. Right now there is nothing on 34, (and probably won't be for a while) in case you didn't get the signal when it was on, so wouldn't know they completetly shut it all down.
