I recently purchased a Canadian-model Pioneer DVR-650H HDD/DVD Recorder. Everything is great but I notice that the Pioneer's remote is changing channels and starting to record programs on my Samsung DirecTiVo Receiver. What can I do?

You can't do anything to the tivo to stop it, because the pioneer dvdr default code has the same characteristics has tivo remote address zero. It will control the tivo no matter what address the tivo is set for.

The only remedy is to change the remote address of the pioneer dvdr, check your manual.

From what I can tell the Pioneer's manual does not have instructions for changing the remote address. I'll call Pioneer on Monday. Thanks btw.

I found your post from 2002 (Edmund's post "To Switch Addresses" - [Link: tivocommunity.com]; "Remote Mishaps" thread - [Link: tivocommunity.com]). Only thing is my D*Tivo remote is a One for All URC6131nw and it has neither a TiVo or DirecTV key. When I press & hold the Pause and PVR Menu (brings up DirecTV Central) the red light on the URC6131nw does not remain lit. I also have a URC-200 Automator which I don't use and an old Sony remote for the SAT-T60, so maybe the Automator can learn the TiVo key(?).

Edit: BTW, I do not have the peanut remote for the Samsung.

That thread is to change the address of the tivo, which as wrote wouldn't help. it doesn't matter if your tivo set to address 1-9, the pioneer dvdr code has the same effect as address zero.

A tivo set to address zero will accept commands from remote no matter what address its set to. And remote set to address zero will control all peanut driven tivos no matter what address its set to.

Anyways you can not use either a ofa 6131nw or URC urc-200 to switch addresses on a tivo, you need a true peanut remote.
