I have an old Panasonic 21" TV. I just got a Toshiba VHS/DVD combo machine, D-SD-V393 with a Toshiba SE-R0170 remote (not universal--first mistake). The TV has never been a problem with remotes I have had.

I bought a Philips PM435S universal consolidator. The code for the Panasonic TV (007) worked fine. Code 891 was listed for Toshiba DVD/VCR combos, but did not work. None of the Toshiba VCR codes worked. The Toshiba DVD code 441 seemed to kind of work.

But, the TV/VCR button on the Philips did nothing with the TV or VCR (I use the VCR as the channel changer for the cable so I need this function). And, there is no DVD/VCR button on the Philips like there is on the Toshiba SE-R0170 remote so I can't switch between the DVD and VCR on the combo.

So, is there any way to make the Philips remote do all I need it to do (it is guaranteed to work--LOL) or is there an inexpensive remote out there that will do what I need it to do with the panasonic TV and the Toshiba combo?????? Help!
