[Take Control] JVC DVD Player Not Controlled Correctly

I have the JVC 511BK DVD Player, and my HK Take Control Remote doesn't operate it very well. What I mean by this is that you have to "hold" a button down for a little longer than a normal press to control it. If you don't do that, the DVD player doesn't receive the signal. This is really a problem with the macros, because there is no way to tell a signal to be sent for a few milliseconds - you can only tell it to wait (which is a shortcoming if you ask me). I have tried telling it to resend the button (like putting in 5 attempts) but the macro started acting really weird! It starting turning my receiver on and off and the other components - and yes - I made sure that I was sending the right signal. I even tried putting the command in the macro 10 times in a row, and still no luck.

I was wondering if these problems relate to the low IR power of the remote that I see everyone here talking about. Even if I stand right in front of the DVD player and hold the IR ports together, it still requires me to hold the buttons for a little bit.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Does anyone else have this combination with any problems? By the way, I have all JVC components, and they all work fine. I have resorted to using the AV Compulink to get it to work, but this isn't as flexible, because it can respond in unexpected ways that you can't control.

I would appreciate any input!

Bryan

IR power is a definite problem without the replacement leds. In addition, for my dishplayer (found on other threads here as well) if you use the relearn function for problematic buttons you will somehow get a bit longer send signal that helps in Macros. Don't ask me why I just know it works. Try it for your JVC player.

I tried the previous suggestion, and it didn't seem to make a difference with the macros. It did seem to help with having to hold down the keys, but still too long for the macro command. I am going to play with it some more and see what I can come up with.

I have noticed the same problem with my 511BK. Because I don't watch DVDs every time I turn everything on, though, I don't have it in a macro. However, it is by far the hardest component to control. I've next to given up and now I keep my DVD remote out.

A previous message in this thread mentions (in passing) "replacement leds". Where can I find out more about this and/or order these LEDs?

Please ignore my previous message, I found out from another thread that I just need to get 276-143 LEDs from Radio Shack.

For what its worth, I have the same JVC DVD player, and I am having the same problems with my Madrigal IRIQ. It works OK if I hold down the "buttons" on the IRIQ a bit longer than I do for all my other devices, but I can't get it to work with Macros. I see from this thread than no one has any solutions. Its not a biggie for me because I don't NEED to control my JVC DVD from macros.
