[Take Control] My TC is dead, need some advice

Hi all.

My TC1000 unexpectedly died tonight. It was working fine, but sluggish since the batteries were low. I put in fresh batteries but when I went to recalibrate it, the touch screen wouldn't recognize any contact. I fiddled with it some more and determined that once you hit any hard button, or selected something with the wheel it started transmitting continuously and wouldn't respond to any further commands. I disassembled the unit, didn't see any obvious damage to the touch screen or any debris that could be causing a jam. I think it ran its course.

So here's my dilemma: I really like the TC1000 and mine was set up perfectly for my system. For all of it's merits and flaws, I guess I just got used to it. My immediate reaction was to come to this forum, pick up one that someone else was selling cheap, sync my configuration to it and all would be well.

But then I got to thinking: It's been a couple of years since the TC1000 came out, and in that time my beloved remote has been discontinued and lots of other cool toys have come out. Should I get another one? Should I get something else, like a Pronto or some new killer? What would you do? I'll spend a couple-three hundred bucks if I have to, but I ain't made of money ;^)

I would value any advice and opinions. Please copy your replies to my email address at [email protected] I don't get to check this forum as often as I'd like.

Thanks!

Brent
