Hey,
I have pushed my HTM SL-9000 to the limits. I have just many upgrades to my HT system and have lost all support from my wife and the numerous baby sitters. So, if I am ever going to leave the house again, I will need a single remote to run the entire system.

I have always been a big fan of H/K and have just upgraded my older H/K receiver and CD to the AVR510 and the DVD5 (soon to be a DVD50 when the local dealer gets it). I have also just cut AT&T digital cable loose (it sucks) and switched to Dish Network 4922 and added a 30 hour ReplayTV which we are loving.

Sooo, I believe that the macro style of the TC1000 would make life easier for the other users but I don't know if I could give up all the buttons that I have in my SL-9000.

Has anyone been able to set up the TC1000 to easily use the VCR like features of ReplayTV? We really like the skip ahead and back buttons. I am leaning towards the MX-500 but the designer in me would enjoy the PC setup capabilities of the TC1000. Any feedback would be great.

I guess I also have a SL-9000 for sale.

You can do anything with the TC1000. For example, in my home theatre, I have a standard screen for my DVD, I also have the same screen (almost) for my VCR. You can do the same for the ReplayTV. Other examples: when I push pause on either, instead of the normal pause function a macro is activated that rewinds about 6 seconds, then plays and immediately pauses. This because if you are interupted you always rewind a bit to see what you have missed.

Once you have taught it all the buttons you can create an activity with only the main features you like, or create your own macros and put them on as keys.

I have the HK TC1000 and I love it. I have twelve macros on one activity screen. They set up the system and put the right keys on the screen. It is absolutely wife friendly. She does not have to know anything about what inputs and outputs to select. One button and she is in the mode that she wants for the home theater system.

I have the dishplayer from dish network. It works very much like a Tivo or a replay. I have the 7 second rewind and the 30 second commercial skip. I just taught it all the keys.

Post and see if someone else has learned all the keys for a replay. If they have then you can paste their learned data into your .irm file. You will know what that file is when you get your HK or your Madrigal remote. I love mine and I now have my second HK receiver. I have an AVR300 and an AVR500. Would have loved the AVR510 but it is still a little on the expensive side for me.

If you want an HK look for deals here on the forum, or on EBay or UBid. If you get a used or refurbished one you will be more likely to go with 9 volt batteries and with the upgraded IR leds. Then you will be much happier with your remote.
