My wife picked up some nimh's. I know, not 150 Volts, but the display seems OK. :-)

Anyway, these are 1600mah batterys but say "if not charged for over a week, charge first".

She is concerned that we need to charge them every week. I say they will last weeks.

Anyone know why the package wants you to recharge every week? Also, I believe that 1600 mah is good for a rechargeable.

NiMH batteries have a pretty good energy density, hence the 1600 milliampere hours. Unfortunately they do not hold a charge for a long period of time. They will lose thier charge in a few weeks just sitting. I use the Plainview true nine volt NiMH and have two. That way one is always on the charger. When the other discharges I just swap them out. Works like a charm and great backlighting. So if you like the 4 aa NiMH batteries, get four more and then you always have a fully charged set ready to go.

Great. We had the Renewals, at 1.5V, but my wife need them. I was surprised at how long they lasted.

RayOVac says that the Nimh will loose 4% a DAY on the shelf!

Would not mind the 9V solution but do not want to "modify" my IRIQ yet!

Hmm. The manual for my digicam (which came with 1500mAH NiMh batteries) states 1% per day. And since I've left it for about 45 days and still had plenty of juice, I'd have to believe that rather than 4% a day!

Well, I will try them out and see. Still, they are 1.2 volts instead of 1.5. Hope that will not matter too much!
