I have a TA-E9000ES but the remote that came with it (the infamous TP-501E) I no longer own, as it was smashed to pieces during my recent move. I now am looking for a universal remote to replace it, but I am fairly sure that without the 501, I won't get any functionality out of the 9000, is that correct?
All help apprecieated.

It will depend on whether there is a built in code for the TA-E9000ES. If there is then all will be well. If not then learning will not be possible without the remote for the device.

The SONY TA-E9000ES works fine without the RM-TP501E. All configurations and customization can be entered in the preamp without any aid from any remote. I don't use the RM-TP501E anymore.

Has anyone ever been able to program codes for the Sony RM-TP501E into the TC1000? Or does it operate at a frequency that is not compatible with the TC1000? I have tried a couple of times without success. There does not seem to be any built in codes for this remote.
Thanks for any help, Ed

Oops!!
Looking at Daniel's tips and tricks portion of the site gave me the answer I was looking for. I have never had a "difficult" remote before (the RMTP501E is indeed a difficult remote), but finally got the codes in there.
Thanks again, Ed
