No one seems to have actually answered previous posts on this subject, so sorry, but once again with feeling...

Has a TC owner out there managed to learn the soudfields on the Sony DA50ES receiver yet ? If so, could you email me the TC1000 settings.irm file from your PC ? I'd love to see whats going on in there, and hack my own TC so that I can finally bin the Sony remote !

Once I managed to learn the "Normal Surround" setting, but I trashed the thing by mistake ! I presume the soundfields are possible to learn (because they are in range), but the two way communication of the 50ES is screwing things up. Can anyone agree / disproove ?

Whilst I'm here has anyone had any experience of hacking the TC 1000 settings file ? I'd be interested in your findings...

Thanks...

Try learning the codes in another room - 2-way communications from the receiver will mess you up for sure! :-)

Thanks Daniel,

I've tried a different room (even took my remotes to work [SAD]) but that dosen't solve it since the TC really dosen't want to learn from the Sony remote, BUT...

After reading some pronto forum comments, I looked out my old Denon learning remote, and this manages to learn the sound fileds OK. Teaching the TC from the Denon works about 30% of the time, so I've actually got about 5 of the 30 odd sound fields working from the TC now. So I guess when I get home tonight I'll be bashing through the rest until I get 100%... Wish me luck !

I'll post complete instructions and my irm file for all DA50ES owners once it's complete...

Just to let you all know, I have managed to program all the soundfields from the Sony DA50ES.
Once you get the technique down it really isn't that hard, although I still can't manage it reliably without first learning through my Denon remote control. [And I still consider this to be a great failure of the TC, which shouldn't really take this amount of work to fix]
I would imagine that any other learning remote will be able to achieve the same results.
I'm now looking to proove that you can "hack" these codes into the TC's PC file, so anyone out there with a DA50ES that want's to experiment please get in touch...
I'm in the UK, so don't get annoyed if I don't answer you guys from accross the pond too quickly...
