I have resolved the programming issue and the TC-1000 is now controlling all of my components including: Sharp Projector, JVC VCR, Denon 3600 recvr, Pioneer DVL 919, Sony TV.

The unit recognized only Sony TV and JVC VCR, although I have not verified 100% functionality of the preprogrammed codes - will do so in the future.

My problem with programming was "impatience". I was not pressing and holding the keys long enough - oops.

So far, my wife has only two negative comments - 1) the touch screen gets covered with fingerprints, must be constantly cleaned - 2) product was engineered by Microsoft.

Once I get the required operational specs from wife, will build macros to meet ease-of-use needs.

Note: It would be great if there were an RF version of this unit.

Glad to see that you got the codes working. The best way I have found to keep the screen relatively clean is to use your fingernail, not the tip of your finger.

As for ease of use, I have a Proscan 61", and that is on almost all the time. So we watch TV, DVD, and VHS in that order. TV viewing is a no brainer. For the other two activites, I have built macros that switches the inputs and sets everything else up so that watching the DVD is insert disk, press "DVD Magic". Then you just sit back and relax.

Acutally, for me , programming the DVD comes with its own set of challenges because my DVD is in a PC Cinema machine. So I have bigscreen web surfing, gaming, etc. The downside is that the controls for DVD are software and mouse driven. Can't really have a transport screen.

Good luck, and post how things are going!

Carl,

Wonder if TC-1000 could learn IR Keyboard and IR Mouse codes? Maybe useful for DVD control for PC Cinema. Of course, more IR toys to install for PC.

Also, I have added IR to RF module (TERK Leapfrog) to TC-1000 and can now control everything even though equipment is behind and above me.

Just curious what were the reasons (if any) for buying the TC/IRIQ over the Phillips Pronto?

Matt: My reason was to have a remote that I didn't have to spend my life on the computer. I was on a HT forum that the whole group was programing the Pronto. Nobody had time to watch a movie or enjoy their system.
