Anyone here with an IRIQ or TakeControl have a way of directly selecting an input on a Sony TV? I'm looking for a way to do this with my IRIQ to avoid playing 'input roulette' when switching between my receiver (which handles all my s-video switching) and my VHS/cable box (the composite video holdout).

I noticed that there's a code for this for the Pronto, but upon hacking the "IRIQ settings.irm" file in my IRIQ editor directory I found that the Madrigal/Harman units use a different (two-digit) code notation, and the Pronto code didn't work.

Thanks!
Scott

Quick followup: I've discovered that sending a '0' and an 'Enter' to my Sony TV (which has channel fix on since I don't use the internal tuner at all) will consistently get it back to the 'Video 1' input, and from that consistent state I can skip to any other input using the 'TV/Video' button. A direct select would still be much cooler, though.

I don't remember where I found this out, but I know how to do a direct select on a Sony TV. It might have been from the AV2000.

What you need to do is send a TV/Video and then the number of the video source you want. If you want Video 3, send TV/VIDEO then 3. Wait about 2 seconds and it will switch to Video 3. You need to send the TV versions of "TV/VIDEO" and "3". Meaning, if you have your remote set to Video-3 already, hitting TV/Video will try to change the video-3's tv/video source. Likewise, hitting 3 on Video-3 will send "3" to that device, not the TV. (I'm sure you knew this, but just incase you didn't).

This worked fine for me on the Sony AV-2000, and should work on any device if you can maybe time it right.

Toby: Actually that's not quite correct. The AV2000 has "double-key" buttons for direct video input selection. So, holding down TV/VIDEO and a number key actually sends out a new signal, which happen to come pre-programmed for Sony TVs. If you wanted, you could learn other signals to those keys.

I never said to hold down TV/VIDEO and then a number key, I said hit TV/VIDEO and then the number key.

Not sure what you mean by this double-key buttons. Is there a better way to directly change video modes on the Sony TV's? If there is, I'd love to hear it.

Hmm, I tried the method you suggested and all I got was video input toggled and then channel 1, 2 or 3. No direct access (27V65). The AV2000 comes pre-programmed with unique signals as a "double-key" operation where you hold down TV/VIDEO and a number key, from 0-6.

I have an old SONY remote that has direct video 1,2,3, and 4. Maybe you can go to your local TV repair place and ask if they have any old Sony remotes hanging around. Otherwise, send me an e-mail and a learning remote and I'll teach the codes and send the remote back to you.
