Gang,

I have completed the full length review of the Madrigal/Microsoft IRIQ remote and it is available on HTF. Here's the URL:

http://www.hometheaterforum.com

The review is located in the Reviews section from the main page.

Thanks for your patience...

Charles

Hi Charles,

Thanks for the review, I read it and it was good. However, I have no read anything about shortcommings of the IR Range. This seems to be an issue looking at the newsgroups. I bought an IRIQ device and like it very much. Still I am going to return the device tomorrow because of the lousy IR Range. I.e. if I want to lower my projection screen I have to get up, take two steps forward and point the remote directly at the IR receiver. If I aim precicely maybe the screen will come down... time to return it.

Read and enjoyed your review. Lots of detail that took some time to compile. Like you I still use my Sony DSS remote for easy of use. I also use it in the RF mode so I can take it to any room in the house to switch channels on the DSS dish. My IRIQ/H-M just won't do that quite yet, but does most everything else I ask of it.

I never experienced any range issues with my IRIQ during the review. I have a couple of possible explanations:

-My couch is only about 11 feet from my system.

-I have a Zantech IR repeater.

Perhaps the repeater is more sensitive and therefore unaffected by the range? I really just can't say.

Thanks: Charles

Hey huys. I've had my IRIQ for 3 days and have no range problem. At up to 30 feet it operates all components with nary a hiccup.
