Be sure to post your honest opinions of it... some folks come off as "I hate Microsoft and everything they stand for, and although I formed my dislike of the product before seeing it here's my review...".

Is the IR range unreasonably limited with your equipment? I've found with other remotes that half the battle is actually on the receiving end. With a generic pre-programmed remote, my Hitachi TV has to be aimed directly at -- but I just can't seem to miss my JVC VCR. Point it at the ceiling, the wall, two inches from my hand etc and it still receives it. It's not just the remote here.

Daniel,

You hit it right on the head. There is a lot of the "anybody but Microsoft" rant going around here. I've kept my mouth shut because pointing that out usually results in even more irrelevant posts. There are several "reviews" here that are incredibly biased against anything Microsoft. I even saw someone say something about the "blue screen of death." How inane is that? The remote doesn't run NT, and the screen couldn't turn blue if it wanted to.

I invite anyone and everyone to read my review out on the Home Theater forum. If you have any questions, I will be more than happy to address them here and I guarantee that my personal biases will no enter into the discussion either way.

Well i love the things this remote can do! However, i am finding the IR a bit of a pain in the ass so far. Im gonna check the angles of different equipment in a few. I am at this point finding that it really needs to be perfect line of sight. I am definately keeping this toy. In the event that the IR drives me nuts, then i will surely fight with HK to handle the problem however they need to. Ill get back to yas

Daniel,

For the record I love Microsoft Windows and make a living developing software for it (and for the record I'm very comfortable in Unix as well).

But I hated the IRIQ.

I also think the only thing Microsoft had to do with it was the Windows CE OS. Even Microsoft would not release something quite this bad.

I think everyone who bought one had very optimistic intentions and was pissed that they were let down.

After seeing what has been posted here on this forum anyone buying an IRIQ with out at least having plans to check out the Pronto either before or after trying the IRIQ is really cheating themself.

Daniel, when are you getting your IRIQ so we can put this thing to bed. My dealer has a bunch of "Open Boxed" ones, it should be a piece of cake to get your hands on one.

Well, since I can't really afford to buy one outright I'm waiting for Madrigal to send me a review unit. It's been promised since the beginning of December, and in fact I was expecting it before Christmas at latest. Alas, it still hasn't arrived. I'll keep you all posted.
