I have a Mitsubishi M-X255i remote which I've had for years. Today my 12 year old CD player failed so I purchased a bare-bones replacement (to tide me over while I wait for SACD/DVDA players to drop in price).

The bare-bones player didn't come with a remote, but did have a remote sensor, so I figured I could program the remote to control the new CD player. However, since I don't have the manual any longer, I don't know how to get this to work, or even if it can work. Searches on multiple search engines, usenet, etc. have turned up nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

If the Mitsubishi is an old remote, chance are it doesn't have a code for your new CD player, so you will need something to learn from (assuming the Mitsubishi is a learning remote). I would recommend that you take the Mitsubishi down to the store where you bought the CD player (or any store for that matter) and see if they have a display remote that you can learn from.

Failing that, maybe a new universal remote would work the CD player. If you post the brand and model number, we can say what the likelyhood of a universal being able to control it is.

Rob, thanks for the reply. My new CD player is the Sony CE275. Would it be possible that older Sony remotes would control this new player?

Absolutely, Sony has used the same codes for their CD players for a long time, so you could well be in luck.

Do you have any other universals lying around the house? If so, see if they have a code for Sony CD players that you can learn from. If you have any One For All remotes, the code is CD/0000
