Anyone know what remote will support all or most of the features for a Scientific Atlanta model Explorer 8000?

Thank you.

Any decent learning remote can learn the functions of that box. If you don't have the original remote, I'm not sure which remote would be sure to have all the codes included in their code library, but I suspect you should be looking for a One For All (OFA) or Radio Shack model as their code bases tend to be more complete.

Thanks for the quick response. You've nailed the problem. I've lost the original and the cable company wants a mint for the replacement. So teaching with the old one is out of the question. And there doesn't seem to be any way to determine if a given remote has the command set for the cable box.

Thanks anyway.

Well, If you got an MX-500 with IRClone-MX, I could e-mail you my config file ;O) That's not a cheap option though.

If it helps, I know that SA used the same code set as the Explorer 3100 Digital box with the additional PVR keys. The explorer 3100 used an OFA (E1) remote and so their codeset will be in most (all?) OFA remotes. Robman is the guy to help you find out if OFA has the newer codes available.

Great remote, but not within my budget. I'd like to try Robman to see if he can help, but I'm new to your forum and don't know how to email him. Can help with that?

Try posting your question here in the OFA forum [Link: remotecentral.com]

The robman will get back to you with info or give you his email address
