well i havent found one that meets my exact needs posted here so i figured id ask instead. besides, all these terms and junk confuses me a bit as this is my first time really thinkin about having a good universal. basically, i have a one for all 6131. it works great and all that but i want to be able to program macros into it. i checked and its not JP1 compatible right now (doesnt have the pins) so i figured id look into a different one since i need one for my bedroom anyways. i can use the one for all for that.

so i need one that can do the following:
- can be used easy with Tivo
- can control about 6 or so devices...i have 5 now that use it but i figure i may get one or two more eventually.
- id like to be able to program it to say, for example, turn on the sony tv, onkyo reciever, aspire dvd, etc all at once instead of having to change from tv, press power, to audio, press power, dvd, press power, etc.
- ideally, id like to be able to control functions for different components without having to press a button to change to the new device first.
- not looking for it to be stupid expensive, i.e. hundreds of dollars.

any suggestions on where i could get started looking into this would be great. nice forum you guys got here. once i understand more about how all this stuff works, itll be a great resource. thanks a lot

If you like the URC-6131, why not just buy a JP1-ready version? When it's programmed using JP1 the URC-6131 supports macros.

if i did that, would i be able to control different devices, like say the audio from the reciever or the tv/video mode on the tv without having to change from my tivo mode on the remote?

When programmed using JP1, the URC-6131 can do almost anything. I can sell you one for $23 if you like.
