Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. Been reading around, but still feel a bit lost.
I basically have 2 systems in my home. One is for my living room (plasma, receiver, DVD, cable). I want to move this equipment to an enclosed closet about 15 feet away but obviously still control the DVD & cable via remote. Seems easy enough.
However, I also have a second system that controls my whole-house audio (receiver, 100 disc CD changer). I would like to keep that seperate (seperate receiver, seperate remote), but the equipment is stored in the same closet that I want to move my living room equipment into. Also, I'd like to be able to control this from all through the house, including out on my deck, which means I need a longer range.
I was looking at the MX-800 for my living room system (looks like a good remote, and I can tie the base station into my living room equipment via the wired ports), but am at a loss as to what to do for my whole-house audio system. I'm not sure what I need to do to get the range I want, and I want to make sure I get something that will not interfere with my living room system.
Can anyone offer me any suggestions?
Any help would be appreciated. :)
Thanks! Mike

The best place for MX-800 questions are in the HTM forum.
My understanding is that the base of the MX-800 is addressable as well as any of the IR ports on it (ports for sure). So you could mix and match depending on the need (i.e. two remotes and one receiver or two remotes that control two receivers depending on if you want house audio or DVD...). As for range, I have never used it, so cannot tell you my personal experience. But even if I could, RF is extremely environment dependent ( i.e. how many walls, what are they made of, is there other RF interference....) so at best it would be anecdotal.
