Hi...Ive got two pvr's, a directtv sony satw60 and a dishnetwork echostar 7100. The sony remote works the sony, but the dish remote works both the sony and the 7100. So when I want to use the dish, I need to cover the sony's IR sensor. Any suggestions to help remedy this would be great, thx much

The reason for that is the webtv built-in to the W60, it uses the same IR codeset for it wireless keyboard as the Dishplayer. The dishplayer came first, so it only responds to its own code, where the sony will respond to all the webtv receivers IR commands that came before it. The RCA UTV came after sony entered the webtv market, so for about 9 months it responded to all Sony SAT commands, but an upgrade fixed that. There isn't a cheap way to remedy this, you need remotes like the pronto or mx-800, with addressable RF basestations.

Thx for the explaination, I'll have to save my pennies for a Pronto. Gotta nother ques.....I was reading bout the Harmony sst659, I like how you actually put the model# of your devices to get the proper codes, do any of the other high end remotes do the same... and if you were using the sst659, and pushed "watch tv", what happens if youve got 3 different satelites, what options do you get...thx

Does the 7100 have a feature where you can program in a "unit code" so that you can control two Dishplayers in the same location? I know the DishNetwork PVRs have this feature, but I don't recall if the Dishplayers do.
If it does, try changing the unit code and see if the Sony still responds to the Dish remote.
