It needs to be a learning, preprogrammed remote. Not a lot of bells and whistles but usable for video and audio. No deep editing or fancy stuff. Macros would be nice to keep the key punches to a minimum. No home theater but DAT, Cassette, DVD, LD, Cable, TV, and VCR. There are just so danged many with so many danged features I feel the need for other, learned opinions.

Thanks in advance

I suggest the radio shack 15-2116, $32. It's one of the few remotes left with Cass codes, it has a small learning feature and does macros. If you want to know more about this remote come to the OFA/RS forum.
