Hi there, I've been browsing for some time, and am still not sure where (or if) the remote for me exists.
What I want to do is basically this:
When I press "TV" or "DVD" I want the remote not only to change the device specific buttons to work for the selected device, but also my receiver (amp) to switch to that device (since it is handling all my audio/video).
Is there a remote (my receiver is sony, so maybe a sony one will do it) out there that does this? Or would i need to use a macro for these functions?
Very interested in hearing your experience with this. I noticed that the Harmony SST-659 does have "activity" based buttons on top, so that somewhat resembles what I'm thinking of...
cheers from Iceland, Pétur Rúnar

Pétur
many remotes can do that, and all the harmony remotes can do it. The Harmony remotes get setup using wizards, so it is a bit easier. But for the rest of the remotes you would setup manually the Macros (a macro is just telling the remote what to do and in what sequence, once programmed it is a simple one button click for the user)

The Theater Master SL9000 is an inexpensive remote that almost anyone can program. It will do what you are looking for. You should be able to pick it up for under $100 on the internet, or about $75 dealer cost. From a local dealer, they usually sell for about $140.00 and in my opinion, they are well worth the money. If you know how to program it, you might find that it can do even more than change the receiver to the proper input by pushing the source button. It can also simultaneously change the TV to the proper input.
I hope you find my suggestion a good choice. Not everyone wants to spend the money on a Pronto and a Pronto programmer.
