I am looking for several universal programmable remotes. I have a complex stereo setup with a tivo and several other items in a central location. An infrared repeater system will repeat the remote signals from the individual rooms to the central location.
Unfortunately, as it stands now, it requires a dozen remotes to do anything. Most universal remotes have a dial or switch at the top that lets you change between different components. However, I really do not want a solution that I have to change the dial each and every time I want to hit a button because it is operating a different component.
As an example, I would want to change which song was playing (Sony CD changer), the volume (Pioneer Amplifier), speaker setup (Denon Receiver), and possibly my homebrew computer, tivo, and TV all from one location.
I would need 3 or 4 of these, so price is there an issue. Is there a cheap remote that lets me map different functions (from different components) to different buttons?

I think you should be able to do it with a learning one-for-all remote and a JP-1 cable [Link: hifi-remote.com]

Thanks, just ordered a jp-1 cable and 3 8811 remotes. Hope those work as well as the 7800 remotes you linked to.
